Nak buat Lcct kat utara perak?? Jauh dari ipoh tu. Yg untungnya org penang lah. Perbesarkan airport ipoh, naik taraf, panjangkan landasan terbang. Kota kinabalu airport dalam bandar juga tapi ok je. Knapa airport ipoh tak boleh??? Kerajaan negeri kene la aktif sket melobi kerajaan pusat. Perdana menteri pun selalu dtg ipoh landed kat airport tu, takkan tgk sebelah mata kot. Negeri maju tp airport mcm hampeh. . Kelantan yg dibawah PAS pun ada airport cantik dan taraf antarabangsa.bas yoyo ngan star shuttle selalu penuh org ipoh pg klia ngan lcct sepang. Klu airport ipoh ok, gerenti ramai guna. Klu Mas, airasia tak nak guna, tarik syarikat penerbangan luar mcm lion air, tiger airways or silk air. Bila pilihanraya janji nak naiktaraf ipoh airport jd bertaraf antarabangsa, tapi habuk pun tarak. Menyampah pun ada. Nanti pilihanraya tukar ambil PR memerintah pulak baru padan muka situ.

Continue to support Ipoh's airport to launch more flight to international destination like Singapore. As a local, this is the only way to expose Ipoh as international travel place. It will definitely bring Ipoh up into another level. Cheers ...

Hai people,I just came back from Ipoh airport on a airplane spotting trip in Malaysia and from the look of thing, well it's expanding, but some how i afraid the future of Ipoh airport may look dim. It future may look like the current state of Alor Setar airport, i mean i have been to several airport in Malaysia and there are several 'weastage terminal', big beautiful empty airport with absent of passenger due to low air traffic.I guess most of the people prefer land transport rather than air transport ( just a guess from outsider but what do i know) . Furthermore the location of Ipoh , the capital of Perak is just a 2 hours drive from KL so there is no reason of providing a flight from KL to Ipoh same like Batu Berendam airport ( mallaca) , the location is just a short drive away from the capital. As an aviation analysis, airliners such as Air Asia would found this route to be short and unfrofitable, i mean we have to think as a company rather than a passanger. If you insist on flying from Ipoh to KL well i guess you have accquire your own private jets because airlines ( espically low cost
carrier) would not make a profit. The only reason Firefly chose Ipoh as their destination because they want create a market for the locals and frankly that is maybe the parent company's (MAS) profits are dwenling.
I'm sorry if my opinion might offen some of the local people but this the truth.....
Cheers

ipoh, ibu negeri dan antara bandaraya termaju di malaysia. Sayangnya ipoh airport menyedihkan. Setakat firefly terbang ke singapore. Kerajaan negeri perak, sila ambil perhatian. Anda lancarkan tahun melawat perak tapi keadaan airport memalukan, penerbangan terus ke destinasi lain langsung tak ada. Sampai bila nak harapkan Klia dgn penang airport je. Kami naik bas dua jam lebih uuntuk ke klia dan lcct.. Ini membebankan. Harapnya menteri besar dan exco buka la mata sikit.. Sila tegas perjuangkan hak rakyat perak. Kami memerlukan perkhidmatan penerbangan terus ke singapore, kota kinabalu, bangkok etc.... Baru la ekonomi berkembang, pelancong pun ramai datang.

Other states in Malaysia are proud of their airports but it's shameful for Perak to have a handicap airport. Why no flights from Ipoh to KL but got Ipoh to JB" Why not our Perak government extend the runaway as requested by Air Asia" Now Mas and Air Asia are partners so why the delay in politics to decide. Serve Perakians or else wait for the next election to determine your weaknesses!

I went to the Ipoh airport last week on Sunday..That was the first time I went there.I was really disappointed and sad with its development, status, services and facilities..Our government should do something to upgrade all facilities and services there. The buildings must be rennovated. Ipoh is a town and it is really embarrased to have the lower class airport there. PLEASE do something!! We need to go to the KLIA in Kuala Lumpur or Penang to travel all around the world. I think that there are so..so many people in Ipoh that love travelling and need flights to go everywhere. They can focus and plan routes to the Southeast asia countries first and then gradually expand to Europe and asia pacific countries.I have no ideas why they have treated the airport like that. I hope someone can explain about it..I really need Airasia and MAS flights to be operated in Ipoh..Thank you.

I don't understand the government focus and reason for not to develop Ipoh... Compare to past 20 years, nothing much of development and economy is slowing down too. To our state minister and relevant parties, please develop Ipoh by encourage more investor by giving incentive and low interest loans. On top of that, Ipoh airport like a white elephant. If government does not have enough budget, please sell or subcon to courier company like FEDEX in order to develop like a logistics hub for Malaysia. Eg, FEDEX is tied to Penang airport which is costly and congested. Please make use of Ipoh airport and I am strongly believe this idea will bring up Ipoh economy and more investor are interested to setup factory over here. Please don't give misleading reason to our people. Here, I wish the government can play their role effectively and give focus to Ipoh and Perak. Bring up the household income for our people and encourage more investor like setting up semiconductor industrial hub, Biochemical hub, Medical Hub, Etc

I hope they change the "Airport Security Baggage Check" stickers that they use on your check-in luggage - they are a PAIN to remove!! The silver stuff stubbornly clings on and LAUGHS at you while you try to scrape it off.

So watch out if you have precious suitcases or bags.

This is a very trivial complaint, I know, but after long queues and poor service, it just magnifies the irritation.

Any removal tips are most welcome!

If Ipoh airport were to openup more flights, i am sure tourism would boom overnight and perakians will take advantage of airasia's cheap packages over the weekend. Currently we are spending more on taxi, bus just to get over to KLIA /LCCT,not to mention the extra time needed. why not save us the trouble and let us fly direct just like in Penang?Living cost is already on the rise while we speak of attracting more investors , we lack the very basic-airport.Now we can travel to KL by the dual railway hence why not bring the airplanes to our land?

I recently found out that apart from Fireflyz that operates 1 flight a day from Ipoh to Singapore (Big Deal), there is another airline called Silver Fly which is actually Ipoh's own Airline. Since the other airlines refuses to fly into Ipoh, I am gald to hear that we do have our own airline. Thumbs Up, Silver Fly! Ipohans, you should all give your fullest support to Silver Fly for making such a brave move to make open doors to the world for the people of Ipoh. It's unbelieveable IPH such a big city and there is no flight direct to SIN, at least budget air likes Air Asia, JetStar and Tiger Air. All those budget companies does not know that so many Ipoh peoples working in Sg since day one. Yes, I was happy that Firefly have flight direct to SIN and new comer Silverfly BUT the price is not attractive at all. So EX!! Regional Airport? Must shall to have International Airport, instead. No Doubt there are flights to Sg from Ipoh, but have you seen the fares? It cost at least more than RM500 to fly return to SG. It is ridiculously expensive for such a type of aircraft to charge these prices. I think the running of these flights by Fireflyz is only beneficial to the rich people. There should be more other airlines to compete with them so everyone in Ipoh can also enjoy the convenience. Now, people like me can only take the bus services.

Based on latest newspaper reading in May. It is said that there will be flights from Singapore To Ipoh somewhere in July. So far, Firefly website does not have any updates. Probably, they are still considering the demand factor whether to fly or not. But demand definitely will be there, especially during holidays. look at the buses lining up along beach road when there is an holiday approaching. Hoards of people are flocking home. and back afterwards. Even if it is slightly more expensicve than taking the long distance bus. i believe a lot of people won't mind. Compared to 5-6 hours of bus journey to just 1-2 hours of flight. From what i see. It will greatly benefit the econonmy there as well as people will be travelling there more often and easier.

Henry Wong (Australia)
Thu, 26 Feb 2009, 10:10 pm
It is hard to believe that there is no airport for a 3rd largest city in Malaysia! It is indeed a real shame.

Every time I go back to Ipoh from Australia, I have to either

-travel from AUST either directly fly into KLIA then take a taxi to IPOH or

-fly into Singapore for stopover or re-connect my flight to KLIA then take a taxi home (IPOH).

With these connecting flights and excessive ground travels, I pretty much decide not to go home. Too much efforts and time consuming.

Not only it discourages tourism (domestic * international), but it also pushes away many potential investors in IPOH. IPOH is virtually turning herself into a "Death City" with only retirees reside in the city. Loosing many great talents to other states or countries for better career opportunities. This is a real shame for a promising city/town that has a lot to offer.

I urge the local/state Govertment to have strategic plans to revive the city of Ipoh and better manage the infrastructures in IPOH. I believe we want to come home to see our parents and reside there, but given the current status, it leaves much to be desired.

The Airlines complained that they had to cancel all flights to Ipoh because there were only limited passengers. So, they gave the excuse as the new Air Bus 320 is too big to land here. The Airbus 320 and the Boeing 737 is almost the same. MAS Boeing 737's have been flying to Ipoh for years! The reasons why less people fly to KL is because using the Highway is a much more easier and cheaper in a way. We do not want to fly all the way to KLIA and take a taxi back to KL city unless we are connecting an international flight but if they do fly to Subang, it's a different story. However, they could introduce flights to HK, SG, BKK or JKT. I am sure there are many people from Ipoh who visits these cities daily. Why not use it as an international hub if locals do not want to use it? We do not need daily flights but maybe just 2 times weekly to these destinations. Another reason why Ipoh people do not make use of the flights are because the Airline Companies always introduce routes that are meaningless! Ipoh to Langkawi? Ipoh to JB? Ipoh to KB? How many Ipoh people will actually want to go to JB? Its a totally different story if it flies direct to SG. Give us back our flights. The new goverment should voice out on this if they want to make Ipoh city grow.

What??!! Ipoh airport is closed! According to Wikipedia, Ipoh has an urban area population of 1,097,682. It is the 3rd largest city in Malayia. This is a joke, right?

the state goverment should work it out with various sector promote and develope Ipoh to become a vibrant and a safe city to settle down. The closure of Iph Airport is a major dissapointment since it is one of the major cities in Malaysia and the capital of the state of Perak but do not have air route. It already sounds pathetic but since decision has been made. Hence, I hope those decision maker who made the decision, should reconsider it again.

Have they ever think why the no. of passenger using air route is fallen?those passenger from? why the city getting less vibrant? no doubt KL and Iph are near and frequent bus route to ipoh or perhaps train in coming future but an aiport is gateway to world. I still can search Ipoh in Wiki so do not think the city is dead but either it needs some specific sector to boost it. Like its history when tin mines were booming, people flock into Iph. Maybe in this modern day, state goverment could think on a sector like electronics, manufacturing, furniture or ..i don't know..should we just give up the city where a place we used to call home??

In my opinion, an airport significantly boost commercial and industrial sector and subsequently promote tourism and other sector as well.

I completely agreed with them. Why Ipoh airport is closed? Re-opening airport is essential in order to boost tourism as well as other sectors that raise Ipoh up in eyes of the world. Authority should think it over and promote plus do something to make Ipoh a fanstantic city. I think Ipoh is a very nice city, it is only lack of proper planning and promotion. It can even beat with those hictorical city like Melaka. Not only airport, like hop-on and hop-off bus also can introduce in Ipoh so that it is easier for tourist to travel around as Malaysia Taxi is the "worst" in the world.

I think one of the reasons there are no flights serving Ipoh Airport is because the highways improved road transport so much demand for air travel from Ipoh has fallen. Having said that, I still feel there could be a demand for flights from IPH, if only an airline can introduce smaller regional planes. These smaller aircraft are more economical to fly and can sustain lower passenger loads to make a profit (which larger aircraft cannot). Many smaller airports around the world now has flights using these kind of smaller aircraft. Perhaps some Ipoh millionaire can start a small airline flying from Ipoh? Or maybe Firefly can start flights from Ipoh as well?

I go back to Taiping from Sydney almost every year. A few years ago, I went back home by flying to Ipoh Airport and found it wonderful. Unfortunately, Ipoh Airport is no longer in service. Why? I don't understand that. Please kindly give me some answers if anyone can especially with the New State Government managing the state now.

Ipoh airport is now closed. No airlines will fly into Ipoh. The closest airport is in Penang which is approx. 3.5 hours away.

There is no domestic flight between Kuala Lumpur and Ipoh, or other important cities within Malaysia. This is so weird that this airport does not provide a good transportation services within Malaysia major cities connection. (Jan 2008)
