Hi, I just want to say I was very disappointed to the service of the airport police service! She didn’t even ask me can open my bag or not and just open ! And she put very hardly on top the scanner machine my iPad just inside the bag ! And also one police man he was very very rude to a old lady he just talk very loud to the lady ,the old lady just looking for toilet and he just nonstop saying ‘don’t know ask arh’ in Malay I really don’t know what to say about the man , and I think he ask have to learn more English he can’t even ask me in English!! I was very upset (12/03/24 4:43PM)

In the male toilet, there is Scan barcode to feedback airport facilities faulty, but the form could not be found. The water flush in the first toilet is overflowing everywhere and floor is all wet. Although nobody is able to feedback due to wrong barcode, but I am sure the management of the airport who need to use the toilet not notice it? With increasingly more international travelers visiting Ipoh, really hope the airport management could level up their maintenance mentality of the facilities

Quite a number of travelers had personal encounters that the staff in airport is abusing the non-VTL lane. Covid recovered patients were tested positive in Ipoh airport and were demanded by staff to be quarantine in the Hotel. However, when they conducted their own test in the Hotel, it's negative!!! Many travelers had the same experience in Ipoh Airport, and it's all over social media. This is quite a serious issue and it tarnished the reputation of IPoh Airport. Relevant Authority, please look into this issue seriously.

On 16 Mar, i was at SAS Airport Ipoh with my son and family on the way back to Singapore.

I have parked my car at the car park with a fee of RM3 per entry. However, the parking ticket that i received was only stated as RM2.

May i know what was the extra RM1 being charged for?

Ipoh airport authority should provide some containers to put some small personal belongings and duty free alcohol when do the security scan for those things on the conveyor belt in arrival hall. Otherwise who is going to responsible if the small personal belogings or duty free alcohol broken. There are some containers in the departure hall's security scan area for those things scan on the conveyor belt but NO container in the arrival hall's security scan area for those things scan on the conveyor belt.

Dear Ipoh Airport service,

The needs to use paper as official tickets instead of using electronics devices is such a waste of time. Even the passengers already done checked-in online but still have to print out those tickets for entrance purposes. My advice would be, please use technology wisely. Be smart otherwise we’ll forever be in peril grave.

Two flights taking off almost at the same time, but all passengers were asked to wait in the same one boarding room at the same time. As a consequence I missed my flight. Reason given was announcement was made, but no name was called out and the PA system is poor (couldn’t hear clearly). No warning to tell passengers that passengers from two flights will be in boarding room at the same time so I thought I am boarding with everyone else. No TV or screen inside boarding room with update as well. As a result I missed my flight and had to buy a new ticket. Response from Malindo air staff was ‘it’s your fault’. Totally unacceptable. If there is only one boarding room available, why not wait till passengers for one flight have fully boarded before admitting the passengers from the next flight into the boarding room? What if there are passengers who are hard of hearing and cannot hear the announcement at all?

I'm happy with the airport so far as I'm a frequent flyer. However, today with my 2.5yo boy at the scanning area the officer has asked me to clear out his water in his water bottle. And commented water is not allowed in international flights. I fully understand this. But there's no water dispenser inside the waiting area. I asked the officer again if they could help but still say international flight cannot allow. Being said so would like to suggest could the authority provide dispenser in the waiting area just like international airport? Maybe a bit more considerate to the little ones or the elderly would need to drink while waiting for our flights?

After travelling to multiple countries before, this is the first airport that forced me to check in my tripod when I never had issues in any other countries to carry-in my tripod.

When I asked for a reason, security stated that I may use the tripod to hit someone as a blunt weapon which is completely absurd (and this is after a lot of talking between the security and thinking I cannot understand Behasa Melayu and what was going on). The best part is that security initially ALLOWED the tripod as carry-in and then decided otherwise quite a while later.

As a result, I was forced to pay for last min check-in just to be able to take my tripod back home.

Don't get me wrong, money is a small issue here. The big issue here is inconsistency and lack of information to travelers, making them spend unnecessary money.

I'm writing to ask why is there only one poor fella who's working at the departure stand and there are 4 flights and ALL the passengers are rushing to go despite their flight not time yet..my flight is the first to go but I'm queueing way behind those who are not scheduled to fly yet. Why no system? What if I miss the flight? Who's gonna pay for my ticket??? Can you work out some kinda system? This is unacceptable coz where there's no system there is havoc, chaos ,unnecessary stress and anxieties to everyone. Please do something about it thanks.

But the ICA staff and aircraft staff said to me it can't be hand carry and must be check in. I just feeling confused because I has direct hand carry several times before and why now can't.I am very worried that my medicine can't be hot and broken.I am very dissatisfied with this situation! If I have wrong pls correct me. Thanks"

One suggestion is to ask your doctor to write a letter (written in official letter-headed paper, signed and stamped) , and along with your prescription, present it to the security check officer at the airport. Usually, with a doctor's letter and prescription, there is a likelihood they will they you take your insulin on board with you.

The airport has been improving in many aspects over the years: the illegal parking along the roadside has been under control.
But it is unfortunate that there is no direct flight to KLIA2. It would be great if there are flights to the Capital Cities of other states in Malaysia.

Very very poor. The monitor to show departure and arrivals flight is not updated. Announcement is not clear. When a flight is delayed, people keep asking staffs to confirm. There should be a monitor in the departure gate to show which flight to board now since there is only 1 gate tp prevent any confusion. The TV.. please.. just turn it off. It is a waste of resource.

Decent for a small airport. Clearly limited room to expand - from airfield to terminal. Would strongly suggest introducing more competition between SIN - IPH. The airfare now is unjustifiably high. As a comparison, a return flight during peak period could get me from KL - Seoul/Tokyo or SIN - Bali/Bangkok.

My dad was returning to SG from this airport. The guy doing bag scan saw my dad slipping his phone in the luggage. After scanning the luggage, he asked my dad to check in the luggage as it was "too big" (mind you, its cabin-sized). My dad forgot about his phone right after as the officer hurried him. My dad left for his flight shortly. After touch down, my dad remembered that he left his phone in the slip-in pocket and started reaching for it when he got his luggage after retrieving it from the conveyor belt. It was gone. It couldn't have fell out as the compartment was zipped. It was stolen right after the bag scan and the "check in" process. Dude, don't use such poor excuses to steal passengers' properties. Have some integrity please.

This is a passenger feedback on the general state of the Ipoh Airport.
First of all, I don't understand why does the airport has to be named after someone? There are plenty of ways to render hommage and naming a place with 3-4 words is not going to help people to remember it. IPOH AIRPORT/ Lapangan Terbang Ipoh is the best. Please don't use all other signboard names to create confusion.

Second of all, there is no shuttle buses that link the airport to the city centre. The authority in charge should provide this service to public. Nowadays, public transport and shuttle buses are essential in a city. Ipoh as the 3rd or 4th largest city in Malaysia doesn't seem to catch up with the other cities...Even Penang has better bus links. Please make more effort in developing Perak tourism.

Next, I would like to comment on the number of destinations available. Besides Singapore, I think Ipoh should try to entice more lowcoast companies to invest at this airport. From the economics' point of view, this move will not bring any harm to the city or the state. Ipoh has many sister cities. Perhaps the authority can work from that point.

I read an article published in a local newspaper early this year which stated that Perak Tourism Board might consider to introduce a new route, Ipoh to Macao directly in order to promote tourism in Perak. Personally I think this idea will benefit the two cities.

May 4th 2017 - Airport closed due to pothole on runway. Malaysia Airport declared airport to be closed for next 24hrs. Acceptable for safety reason.
May 5th, 2017 - IPH informed airlines that runway can be resumed at 10am. This caused a LOT of trouble for passengers from Singapore. Those on Tiger 0745 were rescheduled to 1345 and then 1545. Those on FY3542 0930 rescheduled to 1230. At 1200 noon FY3542 decided to reroute to SZB and will arrange coach to ferry pax to Ipoh.

All due to IPH not able to confirm if they are going to be closed whole day or complete.

At the end of the day IPH officially opened at 1600hrs so those on FY and TR evening flight was able to resume.

While we understand it is for safety reason, IPH should have firmly follow earlier directive of 24hrs closure. This makes arrangement easier and better expectation.

Seriously.

Ipoh, being 3rd largest city in Malaysia, we really need to have an airport that is on par for a healthy developments for the city. Popular routes to Singapore, Bangkok, KLIA should be increased sooner, it really does matter to the people and the government. Certainly will bring alot positive impact for state tourism, industry, education etc. Hence, pls consider my 5cent worth of feedback, cheers!

It was sad that Malindo has stopped the route in between SIN and IPH. Ipoh Airport authority should allow more alternative airlines company to fly SIN to IPH or vice versa. So that it can bring down the airport transport fares when there are more competitors. As now the cost of the transport fares to fly to SIN from IPH is ridiculous high. On the other hand, more routes to city like Hong Kong, Taiwan, Bangkok and etc as to make sure the airport is fully utilized. Otherwise, it will be very hard to promote the tourism and revive the glorious time of Ipoh city when it was once well known for tin mining.

I am very sad with the Ipoh tourism development as well as the city airport. The authority isn't doing any work to promote the tourism in Ipoh to outsiders/foreigners. Ipoh is a sister city to Fukuoka, Guangzhou, Nanning, Yogyakarta etc...but there are no flights to link these cities? I am very disappointed. There is only Singapore for the moment...Does the local airport can't handle more destinations? Please there is so much to do to put Ipoh on the map of the region and the world! Please start now! try to build up more diplomatic relationships with other cities. If you are afraid of language barrier, find language students to do internship! Help promote Ipoh's name! not just for food but for cultural experiences! create more links!

It is good that now Ipoh airport has flights to Spore and JB. There is room for improvement. But it seems that Malindo Air will be stopping their daily flight service to Spore with effect from April 6, 2016. Talks of flights services to China especially to Ipoh twin city Guangzhou have not been materialised. Airasia is not interested to fly from Ipoh either. Looks like the upgrade of Ipoh airport has not been fully utilised by the local airline companies. What a big letdown!

Dear Malindo Air,

I believe that the demand for the flight Ipoh - KB and KB-Ipoh is very huge especially for the students, general public and business people. It have to a better schedule for the fight which during the weekend especially on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, it will be great be the time is Ipoh- KB flight 6.00pm -7.00, KB-Ipoh 7.00pm-8.00pm and last flight Ipoh-KB 8.00pm-9.00pm.

A frequent promotion especially for the university students and general public will be a great plan too. I really hope that Malindo will resume their services for the flight Ipoh to KB and KB-Ipoh.
If you adjust the time to your time to KB - Ipoh to more favourable time which after 6.00 pm. Surely you can attract more customers. Giving you a hint your flights KB-Ipoh was not a success. Pick it up again...Be smart.....Know your customer needs...
Night time we have noticed there are many busloads of passengers from different bus companies travelling from Ipoh to KB on daily between the time 8.00pm ,830pm,9.00pm and 9.30pm.I believe Malindo Air will be successful after reintroduce this Ipoh –KB flight schedules recommended as above

Can Malindo Air, or someone in the know, tell me if the airline has CANCELLED , even if temporarily, their flight services from Ipoh to Medan, Kota Bharu and Subang?

Whenever you go onto the Malindo Air website to try and check for those flights avaialability, it comes up with no flights.

Does anyone know what's happening?

The airline is very good in PUBLICISING NEW SERVICES, but it seems very "hush-hush" in stopping or cancelling existing ones! Looks like this airline introduce new services and stops it at very short notice, am I correct to say that?
Correct me if I am mistaken please.

I hope Malindo Air reps, if they are reading this, tell me what really is going on , and what is the true story. I do not want to just guess, it's better to hear it from the company itself.

It appears there is only Malindo Air services to Johor Bahru and Singapore, if the Medan , Subang and Kota Bharu services are cancelled.

Malaysian start-up Kestrel Airlines partners Chinese firm

14FEB2015

Kestrel Airlines (Ipoh) says it will lease up to thirty-six Airbus Industrie and Boeing aircraft from China's Harmony Harvest Investment Holding Limited as part of plans to enter into the domestic Malaysian as well as the south-east Asian leisure market.

"We will operate the Ipoh-Hong Kong Chek Lap Kok-Guangzhou and Shanghai Pudong routes...for a start we are looking to fly to Hong Kong twice a week, then increase frequency based on demand," Kestrel Air president Ken Leong said in a press release. "The general aviation growth recently seen in China could represent the highest growth in the world in this sector and its aviation market is enormous and one for the future."

While the carrier is planning to launch operations before the end of the year, the extent of progress made in securing its Air Operator's Certificate (AOC) with the Malaysian Department of Civil Aviation is currently unknown.

Good sign for Ipoh. Soon there will be Sriwijaya to start IPH-CGK (Jakarta) route. We have fireflyz 14 flights/week, Tigerair 4 flights/week and now Malindo 7flights/week, a total of 25 flights weekly to serve IPH-SIN routes.

I would prefer more airlines to fly from Ipoh to Bangkok, Hong Kong, Guangzhou. Singapore, Bangkok, Jakarta, Hong Kong and Guangzhou are top 20 busiest airport in Asia that situated within 3 hours flight from Ipoh. By having flight to these cities, Ipoh will easily connect to the world.

There should be direct flights for iph - kul. Also the iph airport needs to expand it's runway to accommodate jet planes (short-haul - b737 and a 320) + ( long haul - a330,b777).

Only then can ipoh start to grow.

I am very disappointed with the airport authority. The website is mediocre and the information provided for passengers isn't sufficient for them to get around. I feel that the people who work the airport are incompetents and not very creative. They are either too lazy to improve things or just too complacent with the things they are. Those who have higher positions in the airport administration don't bother to improve their service. Quality zero. I wish they would see this message but I doubt they would. What a shame! I can only hope for those who read on this website, know people who work for the airport. Ask them to move their ass and work harder and better!

Dear Malindo

Agreed with UTP student (Besut, Terengganu)

Actually your schedule earlier did not meet up with our requirements. Many students other transport. Classes and many other departments finishes at five on Thursdays.

Dear Malindo we desperately need your services . I assure you the demand is good. All you need to do is some rescheduling..........Coz we cannot afford to miss classes on Thursdays.........

THANK YOU

Dear Malindo,

I believe that the demand for the flight Ipoh - KB and KB-Ipoh is very huge especially for the student who studied in here. I believe if Malindo have a better schedule for the fight which during the weekend especially on THursday, Friday and Sunday, it will be great.

A frequent promotion especially for the university students will be a great plan. I really hope that Malindo will not stop their services for the flight Ipoh to KB and KB-Ipoh.

am speaking on behalf of universities students from Kelantan and Ipoh. We need the current route and hope you maintain it. Route by road takes 5 -6 hours and is very dangerous. As I know the demand is good. Be patient and demand will pick up thro' the festival seasons and many more. Many folks are not aware of the services. As we know flights always full house. The other option have flights twice a week on Thursdays from KB _ IPOH and Saturdays IPOH _ KB.

Kindly please take our request in consideration

Dear Malindo
We beg you not to stop services KB-IPH_KB route. We are confident the demand for this route is good. There are many students from various universities and colleges in Kelantan need your service. Moreover locals from Ipoh and Kelantan prefer to travel by air rather than using the roads which are so dangerous. Season holidays are coming soon and bet you demand will be good. Dear Malindo we suggest that you have twice weekly flights maintain it on Thursdays(KB-IPOH) and Saturdays(IPOH_KB. DEAR MALINDO HOPE YOU CARE AND TAKE OUR REQUEST INTO CONSIDERATION. THANK YOU

1) Can someone please tell me if You Wings/Sri Wijaya has started its flights from Ipoh to Medan yet? According to the Sri Wijaya airline website, it appears that services have already started but if you look into "Today's Flights" page in this Ipoh Airport website, the flight is not mentioned. Has the service not started or are those responsible for the Airport's timetable/website not keeping up with the developments?

2) Also I noticed a lot of Ipoh-ites have been recommending, and some almost "begging"(!), for airlines to serve more destinations from their beloved Ipoh airport. The only way to do that is for Ipoh residents to support existing services and fly more. So, when going on trips, please take fewer trains, buses and cars, and go by plane instead! When airlines see there is a demand for existing flights serving Ipoh, they will put in more flights, and hopefully they will add more destinations. You hear that dear Ipoh residents? Support your airport and airlines serving it, and your wishes (more flights to more destinations) may come true!

Nice renovation, good location, But only 2 flight daily. After spent so much money on renovation, Please open for other airline but not only serve the Malaysia airline/firefly. 2km runway is enough for A320 landed.
Please allow more for competition.
We (Rakyat, airport, Ipoh, business) are loser and MAS is the only winner now.
Our population more than million, definitely able to sustain an airport.
Not believe? check how many bus to/from Ipoh/nearby Ipoh. and ask around your friends or relative how many of them are working away from Ipoh.
Please advise that how can an airport sustainable with only 2 flight daily as so many staff (immigration/police/tourism/cleaner/ground staff/etc) working there?

We are between Penang and Kuala lumpur. We need a busy airport in Ipoh. Perak government please push yourself to the Federal government. A good airport will definitely improve our situation in Perak. Kedah is asking for one. Our demand will be more worthy. Otherwise we can ask Air Asia to run the Ipoh airport.

Anyone has any idea if the Ipoh/Airport authority has provided any update on when Ipoh runway will be fixed so that more flights can land?

It is already a joke that millions can be spend building something which can;t be used and even a bigger joke is that the Authority thinks that the problem will just go away playing deaf to the out cry of fellow ipoh citizens.

How many of our children needs to be parted from their parents because of the dragging economy in Ipoh? I wish I could see a day where youth would want to stay because Ipoh provides equal job opportunity. Having a minimum workable airport is the first step.

Ipoh is the second town declared as a city after Kuala Lumpur, but now smaller towns around Malaysia getting developed much better than Ipoh. I want my Ipoh in world map as a famous city for food, entertainment, luxury, education etc.. The only way is to improve our airport, we need a good governance to make it into reality.. I think Barisan Nasional is failing in improving my hometown.. May god punish you all in next General election!

Do you know how it feels like when you are travelling back home to Ipoh from Kota Bharu. And you merely see Ipoh town pass by.Do you know it takes 45 mins to get to KL Sentral from Subang Airport. If you lucky to catch the next train or wait or other means of transport. It takes another almost 2hr 45 mins to Ipoh.. For your information it takes about almost 7 hours to reach home from Kota Bharu to Ipoh. Journey from Kota Bharu to Ipoh takes about 7 hours. This the reason many opt out to travel by bus. Unfortunately not everyone can travel by bus. Please work anything your means to help us.....

Dear Ipoh airpport Authorities

It's sad moment as there were no any action were brought up by thre respective personals to resolve issus. Is the Airport Authorities taking a ride our Ipohrians for ride by giving inrelavant excuses.
As our government had declare 2014 as visit year malaysia but state of Perak does not have meaning for that.....as there were no planes to promote perak and the city.
Since by seeing the feedbacks and suggestions by public , but it seems like the respective were not bothering on it.
I hope the respective Authorities would able react positively and advise the public on the outcome request.
Thanks

After spending so much of money for upgrading and extension of runway , we still end up with so many excuses for not having more flights for Ipoh Airport ?

- did our expert people involved in this project did really know what they are doing as the results of it, we still cannot have planes with the size of 737 to land here ?
- even the local authority will only able to comment "WE WILL TRY TO HELP" , this meaning we can dream on it !
( pls refer to star paper 28/dec/13 )
- after spending so much of money , we got a statement that our Ipoh Airport having sinkholes on the side if the runway which can endanger large air crafts . ( refer to starpaper 28/dec/13 - starmetro page 8 -Perak )

What the hack are they doing ?

This will continue and we as the Perakians , can be consider a real idiot to listen and believe this people again and again and again .

As our Datuk Bandar Datuk Roshidi said
WE WILL TRY TO HELP

Believe it or not , or wait for another Person to say the same .

Hi, Hello...

I am currently working in Kuching. I have to transit at Singapore everytime am going back to my hometown from Kuching. This is very costly and wasting time compared to have direct flight from KCH to IPH

I hope ministry can take action to improve this airport. I believed thats a lot of people being complaining about the flight destination.

Fine is KUL to IPH flight is non reasonable trip, but please consider on the long distance trip, Kota Bharu, Langkawi, Johor Bharu and Kuching or Kota Kinabalu.

Ipoh has flight to many other cities previously in the 80-90's. They are flying using Boeing 737. Due to some "BUSINESS PACT", MAS cut the line to AirAsia. AirAsia deems unprofitable and dont wanna fly and START GIVING LAME EXCUSES like runway too short, blah blah blah. Best of all the Airport was closed several years back due to some selfish decision.

Any now Firefly can fly in and see the price is more exp than flying to other ASEAN countries even HK in budget airlines. U just lost a big pie Mr Fernandes consider the profit margin of the SGP-IPH line.

Dear Cina Apek..Good to hear that.My information is based on airlines in Malaysia which requested them to operates into Ipoh by Charter , however regretable response from flight operation is for Airbus to serve Ipoh runaway will be at least 2800m unless capacity reduce to 130 seats only.Maybe specification is our Ipoh airport location is very unik as surrounding by mountain and one one approach landing for Ipoh and if it miss then they need to have another try.
But anyway hope to have more flight to Ipoh in order to get boost our Ipoh market.
CinaAhpek
Sun, 7 Jul 2013, 4:31 am
Dear Ken, actually the runway length of 2000m is usually sufficient for an Airbus 320 to land and take-off. Horta Airport in the Azores has only 1700m and TAP Air Portugal's Airbus 320 flies in there daily.
It means TigerAir's Airbus 320 can serve Ipoh if the financial incentives are there.
Ken - Ipoh (PERAK)
Fri, 5 Jul 2013, 1:22 pm
Good news but the news was been highlighted since last year Oct which they keen to operate into Ipoh.Unfortunately our runway was only maximum 2000m which can only accomodate B737-400 model aircraft and not fit for airbus - 320 using by Tiger airways unless seating capacity reduced.

But still hoping they still consider to expand into Ipoh and need support from State Government on this project.

New runway but only flights to Singapore?
The game is simple, get some new domestic routes, put in a few routes from Indonesia, Hong Kong/Macau & China, Ipoh will definitely flourish once more....plenty of good food, places of natural interest, affordable standard of living & properties. Ipoh has been in the slum for too long..

Need more flight to IPOH as IPOH is really improving now.

1. So many tourist attractions (caves, lost world of tambun)and local delicacies (too much to list out).

2. Facilities like the UTC has also been built, simplifying the process such as Passport renewal and license renewal

3. Bus transportation and interchange Medan Gopeng is only a mere 10 - 15 minutes to the airport

4. Hotels also have been built nearby such as the new Tune Hotel by AirAsia.

With all these already in hand, all you need to do is get more flight to Ipoh and slowly gain traction by offering domestic and flights to Singapore. Once you have the profit, you can expand the runway again.

Ipoh is really of the places that is middle of everything. Don't you think it is a waste if you neglect the Airport?

Most probably there will be a flight to Jhb from Ipoh with air ticket cost range into RM 550-600 for return ticket. So it is rather high cost for us to buy ?.So hope if it will be starting then full support from JB and Ipoh in order to prolong the services.Hope to get some feedback.

As to make A320 to be operated to Ipoh with less capacity will be a loser point for airlines. So it wont be justified for them to operate into ipoh with their affected revenue in future. So the only way is either Malindo or other carrier with lower fleet aircraft to get into Ipoh to utilised the airport which is renovated in a better comfortable for public.

In that case no need to waste money on that little bit length that serves no purpose if Ipoh airport can't acomodate, A320 landing and take-off.
Better for Perak Gov. to build a new airport with 6,000ft length Runway with provision to extend another 1,000ft in future.

hopefully Ipoh airport would become a regional/short distance international airport which able to support flights to neighbouring countries like thailand, cambodia, laos, singapore, indonesia etc... flight to Sabah and Sarawak can be consider as well. Perhaps MAS can send in their old B734 to get the job done.

Btw, A320 does not requires 3.5km to take off and land. Airlines company simply bluff for nothing. However, 2km runway length is simply not enough for a safe take off and landing for a fully loaded A320 (or even a B738), that's the fact we need to admit.

The new upgraded airport is going to be a disaster and a waste of money for investment. They should just relocate the airport to somewhere closer to Ipoh. We need a well-equipped small international airport that caters long haul/distance/international flights into Ipoh (esp those countries from Asian region - HK, Taiwan, China, Singapore, etc).

Having domestic MH flights connecting flights between Ipoh and KLIA are good as this is particularly important for for overseas visitors and frequent business travellers.

Don't just hope for flights between Indonesia and Singapore as this is not a strategic move to only cater for this group of customers! This doesn't drive business opportunities and tourism!

Wake up Ipohites and the local council!

Dear Fellow Ipoh perakian,

As thru what i survey with airlines , our Ipoh airport is been extended in 2 km at current stage. So it will not be able to meet up requirement of A-320 for air asia to come down to Ipoh as this acrft needs at least 3.5 km to land Ipoh.So the only aircraft can land into ipoh will be B 7347 -400 . So they might be a flight Jhb- Ipoh - Jhb and Iph - Haadyai - Ipoh soon if aircraft available and might be starting in April 2013 .So should any info i will keep informed here or can email me to laikvv9389@gmail.com for details

Ladies & Gentlemen, People of Ipoh. Whats going on regarding the SAS Airport? If Fireflyz is still expensive, bring back Air Asia and bring in new players like Malindo Airways, Tiger Airways etc. Let there be a healthy price war. Perak Government make fast decision and attract this players fast. Look at Indonesia's provincial Airports, are we behind them? Perak state government is not think like Indonesia's Provincial government? Wake Up, Get Up & Work It.

I have to travel to overseas for my business regularly. Over the years (since yr 2004), I have to drive all the way to KLIA to take international flight to my destination. It is very time consuming and wasting money. We need MAS (arrange) & Ministry of Transport (approve) one flight in early morning (before 7am) depart from Ipoh to KLIA and one evening flight (may be after 8pm).
There is huge demand for business and leisure travellers for this sector. Just look at Yoyo and other 2 bus companies who operate Ipoh -KLIA/LCCT bus route service, the passengers loading factor is more than 80% for about 20 services daily.
Why MAS/Air Asia is having price war to compete with each other while there is niche market for the IPH/KUL sector ?
Ipoh Airport authority should ask for more flight to/from IPH to utilise the airport which just ugraded the runway. Ipoh City need more foreigners/tourists to stimulate the economy. Can we expect some flight from Ipoh/KUL in the next 3 months ?

I do agree that Firefly is way too expensive given it's a budget airline but hte price is not budget at all. With the limited choices available, it will not attract anybody travelling by plane to Ipoh especially from Singapore. Ipoh Airport is gonna lose business with no futher action taken.

How much spent on upgrading the airport? But the flight destination is not attractive enough. I suggest, Firefly should operate: IPHPEN, IPHSZB, IPHKUL, IPHAOR, IPHJHB, etc at a lower price to increase the volume of passengers(all seats utilized). For MAS - should fly destinations like Medan, Singapore, KLIA, Jakarta, Hong Kong, Bangkok, China etc. As for AirAsia - Acheh, Medan, Padang, Jakarta, Bangkok, China etc. This would encourage more tourist from overseas especially with historical buildings and Buddhist temples in smaller towns around Ipoh city. Airport fees should be reasonably lower or subsidised by the State government.

1. Why Fireflyz airfare Singapore-Ipoh is so expensive? Is it because Ipoh is rich?

2. Why Fireflyz airfare is so much higher than other budget or non-budget airlines? Anything is special and better from Fireflyz?

3. Why there is no more Airasia flight to Ipoh?

Yes, it is amazing that Ipoh which according to statistics is one of the fastest growing city and also 3rd largest city in Malaysia is without an airport. With 2 unis, blocks after blocks of high-rise apartment which are attracting < 30 % of overseas investors to the city is without an airport. It does sound odd!!! How can the city progress without effective communication links with rest of Malaysia. There has been huge improvement with road/highways between Ipoh, Penang and Kuala Lumpur. this is mainly due to progress, yet Ipoh which is used to be the largest tin producer in the world, is beng forgotten for its significance. As well, its population of over 1 million and still growing deserve some attention from the state and even Fed govts. How can a One Malaysia country progress to its max potential when the govt gives nil sonsideration to all state that make up this country. Wake up govts, listen to your people, your support will determine future govt which will control Perak. Be a leader
amongst developing countries that create opportunities for its raayat

The new management had given me a very huge dissapointment lately. They did not allow me to check in although im only 5-10 minutes late as there was a new rule saying that everyone has to check in 30 minutes earlier. But the point is that no one has ever inform me about this at all. I've been flying firefly many times before the new management and they allowed me to check in around this time. This is absolutely absurd! They should have inform us when they'e changed new policies.I had to buy another ticket which cost me around thousand ringgit and wasted my time as i was supposed to reach Singapore early due to personal reasons.YOU shouldnt even have charged us!!! this is totally ridiculous and unforgivable!! There were even people who arived there in time and you people didnt ALLOW them to check in. We are really angry and upset about your new management. you all should have soe consideration!! especially to the SUPERVISOR, LAI KAH YOON...

When is Airasia going to operate flights from Ipoh to JB? It's been years since the flights were ceased. I don't think it's convenient for us to take a flight from Ipoh to Singapore and to take a cab back to JB. Moreover we need to get our passports ..... it wastes money and time.

was on trip to Ipoh by coach and back from LCCT-Singapore. Its just a short flight from KL-Singapore but the bus ride from Ipoh to LCCT really kills. Spent about 4 hours for the ride and spent another 3 hours in LCCT, what a trip. Trying to book Firefly but ticket price is terribly expensive.

Its time for Ipoh to build a new airport to save our time and this will improve Ipoh's economy. I think this is a necessity and the first priority which need to be done ASAP.

Ipoh is a beautiful place but its way too inconvenient to reach there.

At least Air Asia should start flying from LCCT to Ipoh.

Tu lah orang pernah cakap dah. Buat airport di Sri Iskandar dan combine Ipoh airport dgn Sri Iskandar jadi Ipoh-Sri Iskandar International airport. Lepas tu sambung dua dua airport dgn tren (masa depan lah). RM300 juta cukup utk landasan saja rasanya tu.

Proposal to build new airport near Ipoh

THE Global Flying Hospitals (GFH), an international body that brings humanitarian medical support to developing countries, is willing to build a new airport in Seri Iskandar, about 40km from Ipoh.

State Infrastructure and Public Utilities chairman Datuk Ho Cheng Wang said the project which is expected to cost about RM301mil would not only be used for GFH’s operations but also to accommodate bigger aircraft such as Boeing 747s.

Ho said the GFH proposal was among the options being considered by a special committee comprising the Transport Ministry, the State Economic Planning Unit, the Economic Planning Unit of the Prime Minister’s Department, and the State Development Cor-poration which had met thrice so far.

Ho, who is also a member of the special committee, said it was important to have a new airport because no aeroplane was landing at the Sultan Azlan Shah airport now.

Speaking at a press conference, he said the other option being considered was to extend the runway to 1,981m from the present length of 1,798m at a cost of RM70mil but this could only accommodate the landings of A320 Airbus.

“Under the second proposal, the Sultan Azlan Shah airport runway will be extended to 2,400m at a cost of RM390mil but this will entail the acquisition of land and 605 houses have to go.

“I personally prefer the closing down of the airport so that Ipoh town can see high-rise buildings.

“The Civil Aviation Department has restricted the height of buildings in the town due to the presence of the airport nearby,” he added.

Ho said the GFH proposal was “logically better” as the body would bear the cost of construction of the new airport in Seri Iskandar.

“The proposed airport in Seri Iskandar will have a 3,780m-long runway and dual lanes, enabling aircraft of any size to land and take off simultaneously,” he said.

However, he said a final decision would be made after the Perak Government received feedback from the people.

Ho said Seri Iskandar was an ideal location since it was near the recently launched Northern Corridor Economic Region en-compassing Perlis, Kedah, Penang and northern Perak.

He said the Perak Government has offered 450ha of land in Seri Iskandar for a premium of RM10 and the area is already the home of various higher learning institutions such as Universiti Petronas and UiTM.

“The areas have also been identified for the Malaysia My Second Home Programme.

“Seri Iskandar is also about 30 minutes’ drive to Kampar, Ipoh and Pangkor, the prime tourist destination of Perak,” he added.

Where all of this.. almost 4 years this statement out.. but why they didn't work for it?????
I'm very hope that states goverment will built a new airport for perakian since the exist airport surrounding with house, industrial, etc..

The existing airport that under the construction let it proceed and take this aiport for flight trainning, PDRM, ATM, etc..

And the new airport let be the International Airport..

Why spends 60 mil for upgrade that already airport.. There is no space around the airport and indirectly it can't length the runway more than 3> KM. If just upgrade from the existing runway 1789 to 2.0 KM it's better don't do.. Only A320 can land but plane like 747 cant land.. How can it 'TRANSFORM' into International Airport.. I suggest better find new places around 15-20 KM from Ipoh.. Like Seri Iskandar is better places to move the Airport there. Yes it would spent a lot of money why not just 1 times build there you can get a BETTER than upgrade the existing airport.. And now just start the construction to upgrade the existing airport.. All of this waste of money. All of this only 'WAYANG' for politicion. How can they upgrade.. Didn't they lookout the feedback from rakyat..hmm.. very frustated with goverment..

Nak buat Lcct kat utara perak?? Jauh dari ipoh tu. Yg untungnya org penang lah. Perbesarkan airport ipoh, naik taraf, panjangkan landasan terbang. Kota kinabalu airport dalam bandar juga tapi ok je. Knapa airport ipoh tak boleh??? Kerajaan negeri kene la aktif sket melobi kerajaan pusat. Perdana menteri pun selalu dtg ipoh landed kat airport tu, takkan tgk sebelah mata kot. Negeri maju tp airport mcm hampeh. . Kelantan yg dibawah PAS pun ada airport cantik dan taraf antarabangsa.bas yoyo ngan star shuttle selalu penuh org ipoh pg klia ngan lcct sepang. Klu airport ipoh ok, gerenti ramai guna. Klu Mas, airasia tak nak guna, tarik syarikat penerbangan luar mcm lion air, tiger airways or silk air. Bila pilihanraya janji nak naiktaraf ipoh airport jd bertaraf antarabangsa, tapi habuk pun tarak. Menyampah pun ada. Nanti pilihanraya tukar ambil PR memerintah pulak baru padan muka situ.

Hai people,I just came back from Ipoh airport on a airplane spotting trip in Malaysia and from the look of thing, well it's expanding, but some how i afraid the future of Ipoh airport may look dim. It future may look like the current state of Alor Setar airport, i mean i have been to several airport in Malaysia and there are several 'weastage terminal', big beautiful empty airport with absent of passenger due to low air traffic.I guess most of the people prefer land transport rather than air transport ( just a guess from outsider but what do i know) . Furthermore the location of Ipoh , the capital of Perak is just a 2 hours drive from KL so there is no reason of providing a flight from KL to Ipoh same like Batu Berendam airport ( mallaca) , the location is just a short drive away from the capital. As an aviation analysis, airliners such as Air Asia would found this route to be short and unfrofitable, i mean we have to think as a company rather than a passanger. If you insist on flying from Ipoh to KL well i guess you have accquire your own private jets because airlines ( espically low cost
carrier) would not make a profit. The only reason Firefly chose Ipoh as their destination because they want create a market for the locals and frankly that is maybe the parent company's (MAS) profits are dwenling.
I'm sorry if my opinion might offen some of the local people but this the truth.....
Cheers

I went to the Ipoh airport last week on Sunday..That was the first time I went there.I was really disappointed and sad with its development, status, services and facilities..Our government should do something to upgrade all facilities and services there. The buildings must be rennovated. Ipoh is a town and it is really embarrased to have the lower class airport there. PLEASE do something!! We need to go to the KLIA in Kuala Lumpur or Penang to travel all around the world. I think that there are so..so many people in Ipoh that love travelling and need flights to go everywhere. They can focus and plan routes to the Southeast asia countries first and then gradually expand to Europe and asia pacific countries.I have no ideas why they have treated the airport like that. I hope someone can explain about it..I really need Airasia and MAS flights to be operated in Ipoh..Thank you.

I don't understand the government focus and reason for not to develop Ipoh... Compare to past 20 years, nothing much of development and economy is slowing down too. To our state minister and relevant parties, please develop Ipoh by encourage more investor by giving incentive and low interest loans. On top of that, Ipoh airport like a white elephant. If government does not have enough budget, please sell or subcon to courier company like FEDEX in order to develop like a logistics hub for Malaysia. Eg, FEDEX is tied to Penang airport which is costly and congested. Please make use of Ipoh airport and I am strongly believe this idea will bring up Ipoh economy and more investor are interested to setup factory over here. Please don't give misleading reason to our people. Here, I wish the government can play their role effectively and give focus to Ipoh and Perak. Bring up the household income for our people and encourage more investor like setting up semiconductor industrial hub, Biochemical hub, Medical Hub, Etc

I hope they change the "Airport Security Baggage Check" stickers that they use on your check-in luggage - they are a PAIN to remove!! The silver stuff stubbornly clings on and LAUGHS at you while you try to scrape it off.

So watch out if you have precious suitcases or bags.

This is a very trivial complaint, I know, but after long queues and poor service, it just magnifies the irritation.

Any removal tips are most welcome!

If Ipoh airport were to openup more flights, i am sure tourism would boom overnight and perakians will take advantage of airasia's cheap packages over the weekend. Currently we are spending more on taxi, bus just to get over to KLIA /LCCT,not to mention the extra time needed. why not save us the trouble and let us fly direct just like in Penang?Living cost is already on the rise while we speak of attracting more investors , we lack the very basic-airport.Now we can travel to KL by the dual railway hence why not bring the airplanes to our land?

Why Ipoh Airport do not provide flight from Ipoh to East Malaysia? Students are very suffering for those who have to study at UNIMAS or UMS...because of Ipoh do not has flight thus they make them to reject the offer from these two universities

I called for some enquiries, the person I talked to did helped me a little but sounded unwillingly to elaborate more on my matter. Plus, he/she slammed my phone call when I wanted to ask more. Even though its not on purpose but the customer service could be better if there is an improvement on this.

I recently found out that apart from Fireflyz that operates 1 flight a day from Ipoh to Singapore (Big Deal), there is another airline called Silver Fly which is actually Ipoh's own Airline. Since the other airlines refuses to fly into Ipoh, I am gald to hear that we do have our own airline. Thumbs Up, Silver Fly! Ipohans, you should all give your fullest support to Silver Fly for making such a brave move to make open doors to the world for the people of Ipoh. Check out their website http://www.silverflyperak.com/index.html

It's unbelieveable IPH such a big city and there is no flight direct to SIN, at least budget air likes Air Asia, JetStar and Tiger Air. All those budget companies does not know that so many Ipoh peoples working in Sg since day one. Yes, I was happy that Firefly have flight direct to SIN and new comer Silverfly BUT the price is not attractive at all. So EX!! Regional Airport? Must shall to have International Airport, instead. No Doubt there are flights to Sg from Ipoh, but have you seen the fares? It cost at least more than RM500 to fly return to SG. It is ridiculously expensive for such a type of aircraft to charge these prices. I think the running of these flights by Fireflyz is only beneficial to the rich people. There should be more other airlines to compete with them so everyone in Ipoh can also enjoy the convenience. Now, people like me can only take the bus services.

Based on latest newspaper reading in May. It is said that there will be flights from Singapore To Ipoh somewhere in July. So far, Firefly website does not have any updates. Probably, they are still considering the demand factor whether to fly or not. But demand definitely will be there, especially during holidays. look at the buses lining up along beach road when there is an holiday approaching. Hoards of people are flocking home. and back afterwards. Even if it is slightly more expensicve than taking the long distance bus. i believe a lot of people won't mind. Compared to 5-6 hours of bus journey to just 1-2 hours of flight. From what i see. It will greatly benefit the econonmy there as well as people will be travelling there more often and easier.

Henry Wong (Australia)
Fri, 27 Feb 2009, 11:10 am
It is hard to believe that there is no airport for a 3rd largest city in Malaysia! It is indeed a real shame.

Every time I go back to Ipoh from Australia, I have to either

-travel from AUST either directly fly into KLIA then take a taxi to IPOH or

-fly into Singapore for stopover or re-connect my flight to KLIA then take a taxi home (IPOH).

With these connecting flights and excessive ground travels, I pretty much decide not to go home. Too much efforts and time consuming.

Not only it discourages tourism (domestic * international), but it also pushes away many potential investors in IPOH. IPOH is virtually turning herself into a "Death City" with only retirees reside in the city. Loosing many great talents to other states or countries for better career opportunities. This is a real shame for a promising city/town that has a lot to offer.

I urge the local/state Govertment to have strategic plans to revive the city of Ipoh and better manage the infrastructures in IPOH. I believe we want to come home to see our parents and reside there, but given the current status, it leaves much to be desired.

The Airlines complained that they had to cancel all flights to Ipoh because there were only limited passengers. So, they gave the excuse as the new Air Bus 320 is too big to land here. The Airbus 320 and the Boeing 737 is almost the same. MAS Boeing 737's have been flying to Ipoh for years! The reasons why less people fly to KL is because using the Highway is a much more easier and cheaper in a way. We do not want to fly all the way to KLIA and take a taxi back to KL city unless we are connecting an international flight but if they do fly to Subang, it's a different story. However, they could introduce flights to HK, SG, BKK or JKT. I am sure there are many people from Ipoh who visits these cities daily. Why not use it as an international hub if locals do not want to use it? We do not need daily flights but maybe just 2 times weekly to these destinations. Another reason why Ipoh people do not make use of the flights are because the Airline Companies always introduce routes that are meaningless! Ipoh to Langkawi? Ipoh to JB? Ipoh to KB? How many Ipoh people will actually want to go to JB? Its a totally different story if it flies direct to SG. Give us back our flights. The new goverment should voice out on this if they want to make Ipoh city grow.

Bee (Singapore)
Wed, 7 Jan 2009, 2:23 pm
the state goverment should work it out with various sector promote and develope Ipoh to become a vibrant and a safe city to settle down. The closure of Iph Airport is a major dissapointment since it is one of the major cities in Malaysia and the capital of the state of Perak but do not have air route. It already sounds pathetic but since decision has been made. Hence, I hope those decision maker who made the decision, should reconsider it again.

Have they ever think why the no. of passenger using air route is fallen?those passenger from? why the city getting less vibrant? no doubt KL and Iph are near and frequent bus route to ipoh or perhaps train in coming future but an aiport is gateway to world. I still can search Ipoh in Wiki so do not think the city is dead but either it needs some specific sector to boost it. Like its history when tin mines were booming, people flock into Iph. Maybe in this modern day, state goverment could think on a sector like electronics, manufacturing, furniture or ..i don't know..should we just give up the city where a place we used to call home??

In my opinion, an airport significantly boost commercial and industrial sector and subsequently promote tourism and other sector as well.

I completely agreed with them. Why Ipoh airport is closed? Re-opening airport is essential in order to boost tourism as well as other sectors that raise Ipoh up in eyes of the world. Authority should think it over and promote plus do something to make Ipoh a fanstantic city. I think Ipoh is a very nice city, it is only lack of proper planning and promotion. It can even beat with those hictorical city like Melaka. Not only airport, like hop-on and hop-off bus also can introduce in Ipoh so that it is easier for tourist to travel around as Malaysia Taxi is the "worst" in the world.

J Leong (Living in London, but grew up in Ipoh)
Thu, 23 Oct 2008, 5:11 pm
I think one of the reasons there are no flights serving Ipoh Airport is because the highways improved road transport so much demand for air travel from Ipoh has fallen. Having said that, I still feel there could be a demand for flights from IPH, if only an airline can introduce smaller regional planes. These smaller aircraft are more economical to fly and can sustain lower passenger loads to make a profit (which larger aircraft cannot). Many smaller airports around the world now has flights using these kind of smaller aircraft. Perhaps some Ipoh millionaire can start a small airline flying from Ipoh? Or maybe Firefly can start flights from Ipoh as well?
